COMPACTplus Muting Transceiver CPRT-m/AS-i

Description:

COMPACTplus multiple light beam safety devices are Active Opto-electronic Protective Devices (AOPDs) of type 4 as defined by EN/IEC 61496-1 and (pr)EN/IEC 61496-2.

Productivity and safety are among the key requirements of automated manufacturing systems. In materials handling technology, safety light barriers with muting functionality ensure the full time protection of personnel, without holding up the passage of materials. A particularly flexible and economic solution is to be seen in the new CPRT-m type 4 multibeam safety light barrier of the COMPACTplus series, which incorporates both muting and override functionality.

All the sensors that are required for distinguishing between persons and materials, as well as the operating and display elements, can be directly connected to the light barrier on site. Various output versions, such as semiconductors, relays or integrated safety bus interfaces, may be selected; these facilitate the optimum integration of the equipment in any kind of control system.

The integrated AS-i Safety interface of the CPRT-m/AS-i facilitates a direct connection of the sensor to AS-Interface by means of M12 connection technology.

Contact between the yellow AS-i cable and the flat cable for the auxiliary power supply is effected by means of the AC-PDA/A1 AS-i adapter, which is obtainable as an accessory.

Special Features:

• Integrated evaluation unit, no external control devices required
• Electrical wiring only on one side of the conveyor lines, as based on the transceiver principle (transmitter and receiver in a single housing)
• Several types of muting can be easily selected by means of DIP switches, no PC is needed
• Integrated, monitored override function in accordance with the most recent safety requirements (IEC 61496-1: 2001 FDIS), for the safe release of material after switching off
• Plug-in parameter module with saved device configuration, making it quick and easy to replace components
• Integrated AS-i interface, bus connection by way of the M12 AS-i adapter for AS-i data transfer, and separate 24 volt power supply
• Devices can be replaced without a PC with the help of the SERVICE function of the AS-i safety monitor
• Muting sensors, start button and illuminated indicators can be connected directly at the transceiver by means of a sensor connection module (which may be either integrated or external). This results in an economy of bus addresses and cost savings for the AS-i interfaces
• Muting restart function is possible by way of the AS interface, by invoking the AS-i-IC parameters
• Safe data transfer of the OSSD signals by way of the AS interface
• Additional diagnosis information can be obtained from the AS interface by interrogating the AS-i-IC parameter ports, e.g. on the status of muting sensors, status of muting CPRT-m or display of the status of weak signals.
