The user can eliminate the conventional wiring of the safety components in his system. This results in reduced control cabinet volumes, further reduced installation time and reduction of possible sources of mistakes.

The assignment of the safety slaves to the enable circuits in the safety monitor is freely configurable. Several monitors can be operated in one AS-Interface network. Numerous functions can be configured in the monitor: E-STOP, Stop Category 0 and 1, two-hand operation, door locking, contactor / valve control and restart interlock.

The diagnostic capability of the AS-Interface system allows the source of the E-STOP signal to be localized. The AS-Interface system can in case of failure provide information about the type and location of the fault. In this way the AS-Interface helps to minimize downtime.
